A colourful and fluorescent witch who harnesses the power of the moon to remain a shining light for travellers lost in the darkness of the forest.
Bioluma was initially designed for a character design contest themed around Halloween.  I wanted to create a mystical character that was a bit creepy but still had that little bit of cuteness. Her body is made of an old tree trunk adorned with colourful leaves and feathers.
She holds a long, rugged, crude staff with energy pulsing through it and glowing fungi growing along its surface. At the top, it curves into a crook where a glow worm naps peacefully.

An early sketch and design for Bioluma

The initial design for Bioluma was much more creepy and terrifying than the final one I went with.
It featured many more angular shapes, with long spiky leaves, poisonous-looking fungi, and plants adorning its torso.
The main change was in the face, where it used to be much more like a jack o lantern with a scary jagged mouth shape and angered eyes.
